NAIOP Chicago | Girls in the Game

Client: NAIOP Chicago
Event: Annual Awards for Excellence
Service: Event Management
Category: Professional Association

Background
NAIOP Chicago sponsors an annual awards event recognizing the best of in the real estate industry. Nominations are solicited from the field, evaluated by a Committee, and then voted on by the membership. Proceeds from the event support a charitable organization.

Task
It is a consistent challenge to keep an annual event fresh, volunteers enthused, and attendees excited to return. MMA took over the management of this event and has introduced several forward-thinking initiatives that have paid off. The nominations process had traditionally been completed all on paper. MMA was able to convince the client to switch to an on-line nomination process which also included on-line voting capabilities allowing for flexibility, consistency, and greater participation. MMA provided all oversight for the construction, layout, and design of the on-line service ensuring that the architecture could support multi-year use.

MMA instituted an exclusive sponsorship category that has increased visibility as well as bottom line income.

MMA introduced yet another forward-thinking initiative - live, electronic voting during the event. MMA provided all oversite, vendor negotiation and support to introduce this new technology to the client. NAIOP Chicago was extremely satisfied with the level of excitement and enthusiasm generated by this LIVE component.

Finally, MMA has taken a nice event over the years to the next level. Professional staging, emcees, music, and backdrops have all added tremendous cache to the event. MMA provides all oversight of design, staging, script-writing, and on-site management of the event.

Results

NAIOP Chicago Awards for Excellence has matured over the years with the guidance and support of MMA. It is now recognized as one of the premiere real estate awards.

Client: Girls in the Game
Event: Power of 10 Gala
Service: Event Management
Category: Not-for-Profit

Background
Girls in the Game, founded in Chicago in 1995, provides and promotes sports and fitness opportunities, nutrition and health education and leadership development to enhance the overall health and well being of all girls. GIG decided to re-introduce an annual fundraising gala event that would be planned and orchestrated by a committee of volunteers. The Gala Committee had secured several high-profile individuals to participate in the event including Honorary Co-Chairs, Maggie Daley and Diane Burns. The event was not only a major fundraising effort, but also GIGs 10th anniversary celebration and an opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals within the organization. In short, this was a momentous event in the organizations history.

Task
Girls in the Game approached MMA to request overall assistance in pulling the event together at a logistical level. All the major components were in place, however, they needed the expertise and experience that MMA could bring to the table in order to make it happen. MMA was able to review, negotiate and finalize all hotel contracts; follow-up and secure outstanding sponsorship requests; develop and maintain registration database producing weekly status reports tracking five levels of sponsorship as well as three levels of general ticket sales; organize event production including video and powerpoint presentations as well as scripting and staging; develop sponsor recognition avenues; and handled all on-site registration and management the day of the event. Following the event, MMA provided detailed income breakdowns including ticket and sponsorship revenues and attendance statistics.

Results
Girls in the Game had a very successful Power of 10 Gala exceeding their fundraising goals. They were very pleased with the event as a whole and MMA continued to provide services for several years for this event.
